Marilyn Monroe in an unused costume for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

This jeweled belt and feather fan are part of the original William “Billy” Travilla designed costume Marilyn was to have worn during the "Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend" number from “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” The publicity surrounding the recent discovery that Marilyn was the nude model in the “Velvet Dreams” calendar photo rendered this particular costume too revealing. The pink gown worn in the film, also designed by William “Billy” Travilla, was a last minute replacement. (x)

When white western men condemn muslim men for misogyny, they’re not doing it because they give a fuck about women, because if they did they’d start by addressing the sexism they perpetuate personally. They don’t give a fuck about women, they want an excuse to be racist.

 faig ahmeds Embroidered Art

When you think of traditional carpets from Azerbaijan, the thought of contemporary art does not quickly spring to mind… but these beautiful, and modern works will change that. Faiq Ahmed, a native of the Eurasian nation, has taken his countries old-school art form and brought it beautifully into the current era, deconstructing the ancient process of weaving and adapting it to todays contemporary art forms.
